Google Opinion Rewards Hack – More Surveys Means More Easy Money!

I’m always on the lookout for new apps or side hustles that will help me earn me some extra spending money, and today I’m going to tell you about one of my favorites: Google Opinion Rewards.

Now, you may have already heard of the Google Opinion Rewards app.

The app has actually been around a few years now, but I only found out about it a couple of months ago when my friend Andrea got a survey notification while we were out at lunch together.

She completed the survey in literally ten seconds and just like that she earned forty cents.

Now I realize forty cents is not a lot of money, but remember it took just ten measly seconds to complete.

If you do the math that equates to an hourly wage of $144!

Not bad, huh?

So, while the payouts aren’t exactly life-changing, the fact that the surveys take only seconds make downloading it a no-brainer.

It’s actually kind of weird, but I don’t see any other personal finance bloggers talking about Google Opinion Rewards.

Then again, if it wasn’t for Andrea I never would have known about it myself.

She had been using it for a long time and never mentioned it to me because she assumed I had already heard of it. After all, money making apps like this are right up my alley.

But hey, I’m never said I was perfect!

How Does Google Opinion Rewards Work?

This is definitely one of the easiest apps ever.  Just download the app for your iPhone or Android smartphone, enter your Gmail address and set up the account.

You will also need to allow the app to access your location. If you don’t do that you won’t get any surveys.

Here’s why:

Most of the surveys you get will be about stores or businesses that you recently visited. If your location services are disabled it won’t know that you have visited a store.

(Note – This part is really important as you’ll see below when I discuss my Google Opinion Rewards hack to get more surveys).

Sometimes there are other random survey questions too, but almost every survey I received has been after visiting a store.

Let me show you a few screenshots of the app so you can see what I mean.

This was a three question survey, and that’s about as long as the Google Opinion Rewards surveys last.

First, it asks if I have recently visited any of the places listed below. In this case I had gone to Costco earlier that day.

Then it asks you to confirm the date you visited but I forgot to take a screenshot of that question.

The third question just asks if I bought anything and if I did how did I pay for it.

Note that it doesn’t ask what I bought or how much I bought, and you never have to enter your credit card information.

I earned a cool 48 cents just for answering those three short questions.

How Does Google Opinion Rewards Pay You?

The payment method seems to depend on what kind of smartphone you have.

I have an iPhone and the only option for me is Paypal.

The best part is I don’t even have to request payment. As soon as my balance tops $2 it gets automatically transferred to my Paypal account.

But in researching this article, I realized things are different for Android users. Rather than Paypal they get rewarded in Google Play credits.

Credits are cool because they can use them at the Google Play store to buy games, movies, or music.

But personally I prefer the Paypal option because I can spend that anywhere or just transfer it right into my bank account.

My Google Opinion Rewards Hack

There’s a trick I’ve learned about earning the most money possible with this app and I’m going to share it with you so you can earn more money too.

First of all, you have to remember that most surveys come after you have visited some kind of business.

So naturally the more you are out and about town running errands the better shot you have of unlocking new survey opportunities.

The week I was home sick with bronchitis, I got exactly zero new surveys.

But that makes sense, doesn’t it?

Do you think they care about how comfortable my couch is?  NO!  They want to learn about my shopping experiences.

Now listen:

You don’t have to make any purchases to open a survey. Even if you don’t buy anything and you just walked around a store that could be enough.

Heck, there have been times where I just walked or drove past a store and still got a new survey!

But here’s my real Google Opinion Rewards hack:

I consistently get surveys after visiting specific stores, and nothing for many others. That means the more often I visit those stores the more money I’m going to earn.

In my area, I get surveys again and again after trips to Costco, Stop and Shop, Home Depot, and Bed, Bath and Beyond.

I also consistently get surveys for Verizon Wireless, and that’s just because they happen to be located right next door to the liquor store with an awesome selection of craft beer.

The exact stores may be different in your neighborhood, but I’ll bet if you pay attention you’ll see the same stores popping up again and again.

And those are the stores you want to make sure you hit often!

Note – there is another type of Google Opinion Rewards hack that I learned about while researching this article. It involves downloading a third-party app and tricking Google Opinion Rewards into sending lots of surveys and paying you a lot of money.

I’m not going to link to any of those shady sites because they must be breaking Google’s terms of service and you will get into trouble if you’re caught.

How Much Can You Earn With Google Opinion Rewards?

I’m going to be honest with you:

You will not get rich with this app.

I’ve been using it for about two months and I’ve earned about $7.

You can not expect apps like this to replace your full-time income. But, this app takes absolutely no effort at all and I think it is a must have in any side hustler’s toolbox.

    1. My earnings have been lower in quarantine too. If you’re not going to stores you won’t get as many surveys. I’ve still been getting them after trips to Costco and Home Depot, but a lot of stores being closed and traveling limited has hurt a bit.

      1. Great App
I’ve been using the app for a few years now. I’ve made about $270 to date (and spent every penny on films). I’m retired and mostly at home but I still receive plenty of surveys so that “visiting places” OP mentions works but it’s not necessary.

  1. I have made over 70 bucks this year doing Google opinions. I love it and will continue using it. I generally use my funds for Google pay and it pays for my streaming subscriptions

  2. I often get surveys asking about my YouTube history and rating comments and recommendations and such. Make sure your email is the same as your YouTube account and you can earn 10-40 cents for that as well.
